It has been decided by Octagon’s Trustees that Octagon will cancel all events from 17th March 2020 for the remainder of the year. This has been prompted by government guidelines on the precautions that should be taken to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Octagon Films takes the safety and security of its patrons, front of house volunteers and projectionist volunteers, very seriously and so believes that this is the correct thing to do.
Octagon intends to show all films that have been cancelled at a later date.
It is likely that Octagon will be closed until January next year or later.
If you are due refunds for tickets bought at Quinns, it would be helpful if you can send your bank account number and sort code and ticket purchase details related to your requested refund to my e-mail address at firstname.lastname@example.org. For those of you who do not wish to disclose your bank details, then a voucher equivalent to the value of your ticket will be issued to you.
Those of you who have bought tickets on-line will be refunded automatically so you don’t need to do anything.
Now to membership renewals. As it is likely that we will be closed for a significant period of time, we want to ensure that you are compensated for the months of Octagon’s non-activity.
Accordingly, all members will be offered a six months extension to their membership when they renew. For example, if your membership expires on the 31st May 2020, your renewed membership would normally last for two years and expire on the 31st May 2022. Octagon is proposing that, in this case, your membership would be extended until the 30th November 2022.
This offer of extended membership would apply to everyone who is a member at this current time. So, if your membership doesn’t expire until after Octagon has started activities again, you would still receive a six months extension to your membership.
